We are organizing One Week National Workshop on
‘Application of Quantities Techniques in
Geographic Research’ in our Department from
March 05 to 10, 2012. We are inviting Geography teacher and research
students from your Institute. The payment is to be made during spot
Registration on 05th March 2012 at 09.00 a.m. (Registration Form Should be
sent before 1st March 2012 through email). In view of the short time at our
disposal you are kindly requested to bring the content of this broacher to
the notice of faculty and research students of the Geography on priority
basis.
ABOUT THE WORKSHOP:
The nature of subject matter of geography is such that in most of the cases
the information can become available in qunatitative form. Hence,
qunatitative techniques have assumed a central position in geographic
research in recent past. With the advance in the computer technology and
number of softwares becoming available, the scope of the application of
statistical concepts and methods is widening. However, for young researchers
the softwares are out of reach either due to unaffordable costs or due to
lack of exposure. Considering this situation the department of geography,
SNDT University is organising a one week workshop for the young researchers
in the field.
The workshop aims at training the researchers in proper understanding of the
basic concepts of statistical techniques and equipping scholars in the
application these techniques using widely available computer facilities in
the form of micorsoft excel spreadsheet. The present workshop will cover the
univariate and bivariate statistical methods and give an introduction to
handling of multivariate data analysis. It will include the lectures on
theoretical aspects and hands on training.
